Skills to Support Your Child’s Regulation

As they grow and develop, children learn skills in being able to regulate their emotions, energy levels and behaviour. For some children learning regulation comes slowly, with angry, frustrated or restless behaviour occurring frequently. Help is available to understand the possible causes of regulation difficulties; from sensory difficulties, developmental difficulties, temperament and emotional experiences. Understanding the underlying causes is usually the first step in choosing and learning strategies that will support your child.
